In the darkness of the Holocaust becomes Swede Raoul Wallenberg, the foremost symbol of compassion and resilience. In the chaotic Hungary he saves tens of thousands of doomed Jews from the Nazis. Of course he falls victim to the Soviet Communists in the war, and is thus also a symbol of indulgence in Swedish foreign policy.

I Förintelsens mörker blir svensken Raoul Wallenberg den främsta symbolen för medmänsklighet och motstånd. I det kaotiska Ungern räddar han tiotusentals dödsdömda judar undan nazisterna. Själv faller han offer för Sovjetkommunisterna i krigsslutet, och blir därmed också en symbol för flathet i den svenska utrikespolitiken.
